So the NFL is getting stricter again on endzone

Players hate it. Much of the media is again calling
the NFL the "no-fun league."
All I have to say is this:

If a major league baseball player celebrated a home run the
way Chad Johnson celebrates a touchdown, he would wake up in
the hospital three days later with one bitch of a headache!

Man, it's been a while. So, so busy with work and other stuff. Not much time for an insightful post, so let me sum up where I stand on some important matters:

Israeli election & Kadima victory- Good!

UConn loss- bad!

New York Rangers and superstar goalie Henrik Lundqvist- Good!

"Dirty bomb" components being successfuly smuggled into U.S. in a test by agents- bad!

Halliburton overcharging the government for services in Iraq- Good!

(just wanted to see if you're paying attention...)

Barbara Bush donating money for Katrina relief, under the stipulation it be used only to buy software from her son Neil's company- bad!

Opening day in six days- FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!

Any questions?

FREDERICK, Maryland (AP) -- Hood College is reviewing its homecoming rules after a lesbian was crowned king, a college official said.

Jennifer Jones, the 21-year-old senior who beat out three men for the honor, said the crowning was a positive step for the private liberal arts college.

"It is cool that Hood allows people to be themselves," Jones told The Frederick News-Post. "If people didn't want me to be king, they wouldn't have nominated me and voted for me."

In my opinion, this is not constructive, and for many reasons.

1) A king is, by definition, a man. "Royalty" has nothing to do with sexual orientation. If Queen Elizabeth came out of the closet tomorrow (no, I do not think she is a lesbian, just a hypothetical), she would not become "King Elizabeth."

2) If Jones wants to be homecoming royalty, why did she not run for Queen? That way, were she to win, she would prove a point that any woman could be queen, regardless of attributes or attitudes. It would smash stereotypes, whereas running for king, and winning, just reinforces a stereotype that lesbians must exhibit masculine behavior.

Homosexuals deserve all the rights and protections afforded to all people. But if a man is gay, he wouldn't be allowed to compete on the women's side of "American Idol." I think the same factors are in play here.

From today's AP news wire:

SAN DIEGO, California (AP) -- Former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham has been sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for corruption, the longest term ever given to a congressman.

To quote Lisa Simpson- "I know it's wrong to laught at the misfortune of others...but, HA!"

Previous post hybrid time!

I've posted on the oscars, I've posted on Ann Coulter. Here is a snippet of Ms. Coulter's latest column and HER take on this year's academy award nominees:

"I shall summarize the plots of the five movies nominated for best picture below:

— "Brokeback Mountain" (gay)

— "Capote" (death penalty with bonus gay lead)

— "Crash" (racism)

— "Good Night, and Good Luck" (McCarthyism)

— "Munich" (Jew athletes at Munich had it coming)"

I'm serious here- I have no idea what Ann means by her last comment. Is it anti-semetic? Is she being sarcastic? Both?

I welcome comments from all my readers, because I honsetly cannot figure out what she is trying to say.

I will say this- at least she used the word "Jew," and not the K-word. Good for you Ann!

And this:

"The best original screenplay will be "Good Night, and Good Luck" as Hollywood's final tribute to the old Stalinists (Hollywood's version of "The Greatest Generation"). George Clooney has been mau-mauing the awards committee by going around boasting that conservatives have called him a "traitor," although I believe the precise term was "airhead." "

Anyone who fought to expose Senator McCarthy was a Stalinist, according to A.C. Again, I ask my readers- Is Ann defending Senator McCarthy? Seriously, I'd like to know what you think.

Stalinists- followers of a man responsible for the death of 40 million of his people.
Edward R. Murrow- widely considered the leading pioneer in television reporting.

I can see how the two are easily confused.

Although I must admit, Ann has inspired me. She has taken some fine films, and summarized them using one to five words. So here are some movies from the past, and how I think she might have described them. What do you think of these, Ann?

From today's AP news wire:

CHICAGO - Americans apparently know more about "The Simpsons" than they do about the First Amendment.

Only one in four Americans can name more than one of the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment (freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly and petition for redress of grievances.) But more than half can name at least two members of the cartoon family, according to a survey.

The study by the new McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum found that 22 percent of Americans could name all five Simpson family members, compared with just one in 1,000 people who could name all five First Amendment freedoms.

And our president thinks we have the finest schools in the world???
