Tim Russert, dead at age 58.

Rest in Peace, Tim. I hope you're hangin' out with Murrow & Mencken.

Russert totally and repeatedly misstated the Social Security issue, he completed adopted the RNC's attack points on Gore in 02, and, oh yeah, he had no reservations whatsoever about the invasion of Iraq. While Mencken, Murrow, and a sea of other great journalists have stood up to the misuse of power, Russert was the ultimate insider, always doing whatever it took to ingratiate himself with the powers that were. Heck, the guy was an off the record source for the prince of darkness himself, Robert Novak, for two decades. I'm sure Tim will go to heaven, but I'm equally sure Mencken will haze him unmercifully.
